We are delighted to bring you a new match day hurling experience for the 2024 championship season, and we look forward to welcoming you to the O/M Senior Hurling team.
At every championship match, 2 young junior fans get to walk out with the team as the official team mascots in iconic grounds like Kenny Park, Pearse Stadium, Duggan Park, etc. It’s an incredible experience to walk out with local club players, more than 20 of whom have county experience—a real privilege to be amongst them.
What do mascots do on the day?
Wearing the official mascot jerseys, the 2 mascots 1boy and 1girl will walk out with the team just before throw-in at every championship match. As part of the experience, you will:
Meet captain and vice-captain Diarmuid Hanniffy and Ross Malone and take pitch-side photos with them by our dedicated cameraman.
Watch the teams warm up from a prime pitch-side position.
Walk out with the team and get action-shot photos with the team as they take to the pitch.
Get a photo with the team and management before the ball is thrown in.
What do mascots do the week leading up to the match fixture?
The week leading up to the match, the 2 mascots will meet and greet the team and management at one of their weekly training sessions. The mascots will be presented with the Official Oranmore Maree Mascot Jersey 2024. They will get a chance to meet each player and be part of the team. For each upcoming fixture, the mascots will return the official mascot jerseys to the team, and they will be presented to the next 2 mascots in the week leading up to the next match fixture.
Do the mascots get to keep the official mascot 2024 jersey?
When the season has come to an end, the group of mascots will be entered into a draw where the 2 jerseys will be given to two lucky candidates. The jerseys will be signed by the team and management. Each mascot will receive a signed letter from the team and management thanking them for being part of the team.
Do you have mascots for all fixtures?
From the raffle competition, we will randomly choose several mascots to fulfil all championship games. From this group of successful mascots, 2 mascots (1 boy and 1 girl) will be chosen for each championship fixture.
When will I be told which fixture my child has been selected for?
Once the raffle competition has ended, we will contact the lucky winning mascots via phone to let you know which fixture your child is projected to be allocated to. However, this is always subject to change based on the number of fixtures and the suitability of dates for the child/family (e.g., if the fixture clashes with another event). If your child is due to be a mascot but can’t make the match fixture, this can be swapped with another mascot, which we will organize and facilitate.
When are the fixtures for the games?
The fixture dates and times are subject to change, and you will be informed if any changes are made.
Round 2: Sunday, 25th August, throw-in: TBC at TBC
Round 3: Sunday, 8th September, throw-in: TBC at TBC
Fixtures for further games will be announced in due course, and mascots will be selected accordingly.
What are the requirements of being a mascot?
You need to be between the ages of 6 and 12. The experience is accessible for all children, but if you require special assistance on the day, please let us know in advance.
My child has been selected for a game. Can I purchase additional tickets?
We will provide the 2 mascots with 1 adult ticket each, and both mascots will get free entry into the match. Any additional tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day of the match, online via the usual channels, or on the Universe website (see link below). https://www.universe.com/users/galway-gaa-PQXL0K
Can mascots get additional items signed on the day?
Mascots are welcome to get additional items signed on the day after the match.
