Sarsfields v Maynooth 01.10.22
The buildup Saturday morning was very tough, texts coming by the minute of players injured and sick. Looked like me might not be able to field a team, so Niamh and Eoina got their boots ready...just in case!!.
By 3.45pm we'd mustered a team and took to the field knowing we had a tough game on our hands.
The 1st quarter was very tight with both teams probing for openings. We gave a defensive masterclass in those 1st 15mins...not something you see too often in Kildare!!!. The score was 0 - 0 after 15 minutes!!😮.
Maynooth took the game too us in the 2nd quarter and scored several without reply. Half time couldn't come quick enough!!.
After some magic water the girls took to the field ( some battered and bruised) . We won the throw in and started the comeback this team is becoming known for. We clawed back point after point with some lovely ball movements from defense to forwards. Every panel member were giving it everything they had!!. Maynooth we're excellent throughout but were starting to tire. We kept plugging away and got a winner in the dying moments!!
The girls gave an outstanding performance of perseverance in difficult circumstances. They were awesome!!.
Great to see messages from fellow players ,sending good luck wishes before the game. Great to see Elaine come to support!!.
