A Chara,

Tá na laethanata ag druidim isteach agus na soilse ar siúl. Tá go leor iománachta agus peile fós le himirt.

There have been some fantastic matches in Rostellan over the last number of weeks and it has been great to see some silverware arrive back in the parish with some of our juvenile teams victorious lately. Hopefully a sign of things to come for these young Aghada players! I think it is also worth mentioning the fantastic occasion our club hosted when Mourneabbey came to town last weekend for the Senior A County Semi Final. Our ladies’ footballers put on a great show of football and spirit but unfortunately fell just short to their opponents who have since gone onto reclaim the county title. It was brilliant to see the support the girls got from across the club on the day. A fitting image was captured during our national anthem that was played using our new PA system which is attached below. Well done to all the girls who gave us some memorable moments this year. The girls still have a great chance of winning silverware with Aghada Camogie this year so hopefully they will emerge victorious here.

U19 Football:

As the nights close in, it was great to see the familiar face of an old friend and warrior back down at our grounds last week. Sinead and family have brought Kieran back to the place he loved, and we hope all his family and friends can find comfort, peace, and inspiration from seeing him back in Páirc Liam Uí Riain. Speaking of inspiration let’s hope it flows into our U19 footballers this weekend as they face St Michaels in the Premier 2 County Final in Glanmire at 5pm on Saturday evening. This team had a great win over Eire Og in the semi-final of the competition back in August and six weeks on will be hoping to finish the year off in style by landing a very valuable piece of silverware. Please make every effort to support the team by getting up to Glanmire tomorrow evening. Every voice counts!

Best of luck to all the lads along with Conor, Seánie, Brendan and Tommy who have put a huge effort into preparing the team this year.

Tickets are needed for this game and are only available online at the following link: https://www.universe.com/events/aghada-v-st-michaels-u19-bon-secours-football-championship-p2-final-tickets-L3VXG6

The Two Norries to Visit Aghada GAA:

Aghada GAA Healthy Club committee have organsied for “The Two Norries” to come down to our club and address our playing groups on some of the modern-day issues facing our youth. This event is open to all Aghada playing members from 1st year secondary school, up to adult.

The talk will take place on Wednesday the 19th of October at 7pm. A link to book your child’s place at this event will be sent to you by their team mentor.

A link has been circulated to team mentors to circulate to parents. Once you receive the link, please ensure you fill out the booking form if you are interested as numbers are limited.

Our Healthy club committee have been very busy over the last few weeks, and you may have noticed a few new signs that have been erected on the walls of some buildings down in the pitch. We are delighted to announce that Aghada GAA Club is now a smoke free zone. Another big step taken as part of the Healthy Club initiative.

Teacht le Chéile na gCarad / Friends’ Get Together:

Club Lotto:

Last night’s lotto jackpot had no lucky winner so that means next week’s jackpot rises to €14,250. A massive sum of money that would certainly come in handy at this time of year. To be in with a chance of winning, purchase your lotto ticket now online at https://bit.ly/3bWAiqD or in any of the outlets listed below:

  • Paddy O’Shea’s Post Office
  • Lower Aghada Pharmacy
  • The Pier Garage
  • Rosies
  • The Schooner
  • The Long Point
  • An Puc ar Buile, Ballinrostig
  • Guileen Arms
  • Jacko’s
  • Days Eurospar, Whitegate
  • The Sideline Café

A quick reminder that around this time of year a lot of people’s yearly lotto tickets are up for renewal. If you ticked the auto renew button when you first bought your ticket, your ticket will be renewed once it expires (once your card details haven’t changed!). However, if you did not click auto renew when you initially bought your ticket you will need to log into your account to purchase your ticket for the year ahead again. So please keep an eye on your emails and renew your ticket if you need to. Our club lotto is one of the club’s key fundraising outlets every year, so your support is very much appreciated.

Well, that’s it for this week. A massive day for our U19s tomorrow. Be sure to wear plenty of green tomorrow to show your support for the lads.

Go n-éirí leis an bhfoireann peile faoi 19 Dé Sathairn. Ar aghaidh libh!
