Unique Camp Ends on a High ...

Mullingar Shamrocks' three day Easter Camp concluded on Thursday afternoon with 85 tired but delighted youngsters having enjoyed three days of action packed activities with a masterclass in art courtesy of Andrina Finch thrown in for good measure. It’s certainly hard to think of a better value camp in the 32 counties than the Shamrocks’ one. Thirty euro for all the activities, nine hours of coaching and games plus art and the Easter Bunny, ensured that all participants and coaches went home with a generously sized Easter Egg.

The weather gods decided some payback was due for the recent lengthy spell of inclement weather and the youngsters enjoyed the dry conditions. Coaching Officer, Carole Finch, our Games Promotion Officer JP Bracken, Coaches’ coordinator Barry Kelly, Minor Committee Chairman Oliver Keating and of course the indefatigable Pat Collins were on hand at various stages to ensure everything ran smoothly. Tom Hunt’s camera captured the action and reactions.

Ultimately, Mullingar Shamrocks is so lucky to have 18 teenagers who provided the enthusiasm, energy, knowledge and kindness to the youngsters thus ensuring a memorable week’s activities. Leah Glynn, Zara Corroon, Molly Maguire, Roisin Nohilly, Grace Hanly, Grace Daly, Criostoir Ormsby, Adam Glynn, Ruairi Kelly, Tommy Daly, John Shaw, Peter Finch, Andrew Gavigan, Aine Creagh, Paul Keating, MJ Burke and Ty Masterson can all feel proud of their efforts and it sums up the GAA that three of the coaches, Paul Keating, Ty Masterson and Criostoir Ormsby, were in Springfield on Thursday morning just thirteen hours after performing heroically for Westmeath minors in Kinnegad in the Leinster championship.
