  •  Rebel Óg East U14  Division 1 Football Championship       26/04/24                                                                                 St Micheals 5-5 Aghada 3-6      report by Pa O’ Connor
We played St Micheals on their home grounds last Friday in the first game of our group ultimately losing out after a big shift was put in by all. We started strongly but it took us awhile to get our first score after a few attempts but David Murphy kicked our first score a point and we went on to perform very strongly in first half. We were constantly attacking St Micheals and we got good goals through David Murphy and Cormac Cashman. Towards end of half we lost our concentration and St Micheals got in for 3 goals which we should have dealt with better .Half time score Aghada 2-4 St Micheals 3-2. As the second half developed St Micheals started to get on top as we started to lose our way. In fairness the boys composed themselves again and we got a great goal after strong run from Jack Kelleher and we had enough possession and opportunities to have put more up on scoreboard. In the last few minutes St Micheals broke up field the ball was hit in from out the pitch managed to end up in the back of the net a soft goal for us to concede .In the end we lost out by 5 points, we have plenty to work on ahead of Round 2 Vs Glenville on 9th May in Rostellan. Best for Aghada: Donncha Walsh, Darragh Callanan, Dylan Kearns, Conor O’ Reilly. We move onto the first round of Hurling next Friday Vs St Colmcilles.    Aghada team: Harry Burgoyne, Dylan Kearns, Donncha Walsh, Bobby O’ Riordan Darragh Crowley, Finbar Alcock, Darragh Callanan, Cormac Cashman, Lorcan Evans Marcus O’ Loughlin, Jack Kelleher, Conor O’ Reilly, Cathal Lowney, David Murphy, Ben Duggan. •  Rebel Óg East U12 Football League Group 2                         27/04/24          Aghada 5-13 Erins Own 3-5
A scintillating opening half paved the way for a resounding win against fellow East Cork team Erins Own at a cold and damp Rostellan on Saturday afternoon. The football was breathtaking as the home side set the scoreboard alight in the first half. Once Rory Casey raised the first white flag the floodgates opened as more points followed from Ronan Callanan, Bobby Creedon, Adam O’ Loughlin and Michael Creedon. Goals began to flow with quality finishes from Adam (2,) Cathal Lehane and Bobby as the team were rewarded for their excellent build up play. The defense was totally on top with Eoin Rooney and Michael Lowney excelling on either side of teak tough full back Seánie Walsh. Shay Casey and Jakub Walker pushed forward at every opportunity with Dara Kelleher soundness personified in the center. Erin’s Own to their credit really made a game of it in the second half and it took great goalkeeping from Darragh Kenny and ferocious work rate from Mason Sheehan to keep them at bay. Just when the away side looked like they were getting back in the game the home side struck goal number five from the industrious Jamie O’ Brien to re-confirm their superiority. All in all, a very impressive display from our lads in a terrific team performance.  Team & scorers: Darragh Kenny, Eoin Rooney, Seán Walsh, Michael Lowney, Shay Casey, Dara Kelleher, Jakub Walker, Ronan Callanan 0-2, Michael Creedon 0-2, Rory Casey 0-3, Bobby Creedon 1-4, Mason Sheehan, Cathal Lehane 1-0, Adam O’ Loughlin 2-2, Jamie O Brien 1-0.
