Naomh Olaf’s Buy-a-Brick campaign has launched and the response so far is a credit to our community, thank you all so much for your generosity!
We still have a way to go, so if you haven't brought your brick yet, here is the lowdown on the proposed new skills wall; as well as how we will achieve the building of it.
At present our hurling wall is 18 metres and it is just not big enough to cater for our rapidly growing membership, so the plan is to build a bigger and better one. The new wall will essentially more than quadruple the size of the existing wall, to 92 metres.
That’s a 1,200 m2 all-weather training facility for both hurling and football teams!
What does this mean for our members?
1) We will finally have enough space to host our academy every week, no cancellations, no mud!
2) The wall will provide invaluable time for each age-group, to help them improve both their hurling and football skills.
3) It will be the perfect setting for strength and conditioning sessions.
4) The wall will be capable of holding 35 juveniles or 30 adults, all with their own wall space – the current wall can host just 7 adults.
5) Floodlights will mean the area can be used at night.
6) There will be a sprint lane track for gym sessions and the area will allow for outdoor gym team sessions.
7) It can also be used for coaching sessions and group coaching demonstrations.

8) The new skills wall will provide a larger safe place for more of our players to meet and practice by themselves.
What does buying a brick actually mean?
When you buy a brick it literally cements you and your family’s name in the club forever more!
Buying a brick, symbolises your commitment to furthering the club by improving and enhancing facilities for this generation and the generations to come.
The bricks, will have your name and the names of your family engraved in them. Each brick will then form part of a symbolic structure which will be fitted in and around the new skills wall – a wall that you will have helped to make a reality!
Building is expected to start in July and finish in September – but in order for that to happen we need to start selling bricks!
What does this mean with regards to previous fundraising?
In the past money has been raised for particular projects and over time the club has done a lot of work with this money, along with grants, for the likes of the floodlights. These lights are highly effective and have also brought longevity to our playing and training days.
There is money remaining and it will help towards this project. However, we still need to raise €300,000 to build this new skills wall and modernise our club.
We are also running a corporate campaign, reaching out to businesses in the area, to help us reach this target too.
