Simonstown hosted Rathoath in this Ladies Intermediate Championship second round match
on Friday night. With both teams winning their first round games the winners of this game would be in guaranteed knockout stage football in September.
Simonstown started well in the first 20 minutes and had 3 points on the board to Rathoaths solitary effort of the half scored after 16 mins. A well taken Aoife Farrell goal put further daylight between the teams with Mia Bradys point leaving it 1-4 to 0-1 at half time.
Simonstown introduced Kelly Harris and Katie Bellew in the 2nd half with Harris kicking the first 3 points of the 2nd half. Some excellent team defending kept Rathoath to only two pointed frees until their first score of the game from play in the 56th minute. Brady, Harris and Brady again concluded the scoring for the Simonstown ladies.
Simonstown Ladies now look forward to a round 3 encounter with St Colmcilles on Saturday September 7th in Pilltown with knockout stage football secured.
