The 2nd team hosted Wanderers in Rivervalley on Sunday afternoon in a must win group match to stay in contention for qualification to the quarter final stages.

With centre  forward Ciaran Groves ruled out through injury Paddy "Hat Trick" Hattie had to be relocated to centre forward and Johnny Walsh came in at full forward.

This worked out well with  "Hat Trick" Hattie scoring the 1st goal and Johnny Walsh the 2nd goal with these 2 goals the crucial scores in a low scoring 1st half which saw St Finians lead by a point at half time 2-2 to 1-4.

The scores started to flow more freely after half time, as Wanderers found form striking 2 goals to move into a 4 point lead at one stage. St Finians eventually settled and  the points started to flow again via Brian O'Neill from play and Alan Lawton from frees with Matthew Deegan also scoring a fine point from the right touchline

A cracking goal from Brian O'Neill in the closing stages gave Finians the crucial  edge and St Finians also had good contributions off the bench from Johnny O'Flaherty and Niall Partridge. There was some goal mouth scrambles in the St Finians square in the final moments  which were defended well and St Finians held on for a 3-14 to 3-11 victory.

Special mention to Josh Ralph, a  minor player who contributed in key roles in both defence and attack.
