Junior B Hurling

Congratulations to our Junior B hurlers who overcame Ballina by 4-14 to 3-16 in what was a fantastic North semi-final clash in Ballina on Saturday evening. A late injury time goal from the evergreen Willie Keogh proved the decisive score following a ding-dong battle with the home side. Silvermines trailed by 3-7 to 0-10 at the break with our first-half points coming from freetaker David Shanahan, John Ryan (3) , Daniel Ryan, Daniel Keogh (2), Cynan Bailey,  Ronan Cunneen and Sean Spillane.

The second half saw the Mines’ push on with an early John Ryan goal setting the tone before a 54th minute Willie Keogh goal brought the ‘Mines to within three, 3-14 to 2-14. Ballina were battling hard to maintain their lead at this stage but a third goal from Paudie Fogarty on 57 minutes really served to knock Ballina for six. Ballina edged back in front once again but Willie Keogh’s late major spectacularly fired the Mines’ into this year’s North Junior B hurling final.

We now await the winners of the other semi-final between Knockshegowna and Newport which takes place next Saturday.

 U-13 Hurling

Congratulations to our U-13 D side who overcame Newport by 3-5 to 3-2 in the North final in Borris-Ileigh on Saturday last. Our goal scorers were Liam Treacy, Michael Hynes and Daniel Sherlock with our points coming from Cormac O’Shaughnessy, Liam Treacy, Daniel Sherlock (2) and Archie Walsh. Captain, Stevie O’Connor accepted the North Tipp plaque on behalf of the team and mentors. Well done to all involved and commiserations to a fine Newport side.

Camogie

Well done to our junior camogie side who defeated Ballingarry by 1-10 to 0-10 in Templederry on Saturday. Hard luck to our senior camogie side who were defeated by 0-12 to 0-9 in Dolla on Sunday.

Ladies Football

Our junior footballers are out against Holycross-Ballycahill on the 8th of September in Dolla. Check fixtures for time.

Lotto Jackpot

Our club Lotto is now at 12,300 euro. Tickets can be bought from committee members or in a number of outlets in Nenagh where the Lotto jackpot is displayed. Lotto tickets can also be bought and renewed online. A reminder that lotto for the 10th of September will be moved to the 11th due to the visit of the relics of St. Bernadette to Silvermines Church.

 Club Fundraiser

A huge thank you to everyone who assisted and supported our ‘One Club’ fundraiser and Family Day on Sunday last. Our ‘Dung Bingo’ and Family Day proved a resounding success as did all our activities for both young and old.
