Senior Ladies Result
Our Senior Ladies travelled to Rochfortbridge last Thursday evening for the 5th round of the Village Barn Senior Ladies Championship. St Mary's had a strong first half scoring 1-6 to the Downs 0-3. The Downs failed to convert a number of chances in the first moiety leaving Na Dúnta with a big task ahead in the second half. The girls certainly came out fighting, and playing with 14 players for the opening 5 minutes, put over 3 points before St. Mary’s responded. A penalty for Rochfortbridge and a yellow card for The Downs in the 54th minute however left a big hill to climb. The girls fought hard against a strong defence to put over 4 more scores before the final whistle, but it wouldn't be enough on this occasion with the final score St Mary's Rochfortbridge 2-9 Na Dúnta 0-11. The ladies are out against Milltown next Thursday away in the next round of the championship.

Underage Results

The U12 boys were in action in the Garrycastle Tournament again this week away to Mullingar Shamrocks. The boys turned in a solid performance to come away with a win against their near neighbours. Well done to all involved.

LGFA Underage Results

On Tuesday evening our U12 panel put in two excellent performances against St. Lomans in Lakepoint Park. All of the girls put in a huge effort both in defence and in attack, kicking some excellent points. They are showing massive improvements all around, and it's great to see all of the efforts in training paying off.

Our U16 girls hosted Loughnavalley last Tuesday evening in The Downs. Despite the girls in black and amber taking an early lead, the visitors took charge for the opening quarter with some nice team moves and well taken scores. Our girls rallied well late on in the half but a goal before the break meant Loughnavalley led deservedly by 3-5 to 1-5 at half time. A couple of positional changes and an increase in work rate saw The Downs girls open the second half strongly with the scores exchanged bringing the sides level. Midway through the half our girls stamped their authority on the game in all areas of the pitch to pull clear on the scoreboard with some top quality moves. Some late scores by the visitors were in vain as The Downs ran out winners by 9-10 to 5-10. Credit to both teams for a great spectacle.
