A great double for Westmeath Hurling and Football Club New York

The day began with the club’s junior footballers defeating Tyrone 4-6 to 0-12 in the Junior B semi-final with ex-Shamrocks players, the first cousins Darren and Gary Moore still going strong.  In the senior semi-final, Westmeath New York defeated Donegal 1-14 to 3-7 and play Kerry next Sunday in Gaelic Park at 4.00 pm (9.00 pm Mullingar time) in the New York County final. Mullingar Shamrocks former player Killian Butler will be a key player together with Seán Moore with John Moore patrolling the sideline as a selector as Westmeath attempt to defend the title that was won in 2023, a team managed by former St Loman’s player Vinny Gavin.
At 2.00 pm (7.00 pm Mullingar time) next Sunday Westmeath New York play St Pats in the Junior B2 Final with Gary and Darren Moore as well as Dylan McDermott featuring. The Westmeath players will be attempting to repeat the feat of winning back-to-back County Finals on the same day, as they did on the famous day of 1996.
