Junior C Championship, Rd. 1

Sixmilebridge 0-2
Bodyke 2-13

Venue - O' Callaghans Mills
Referee - Andy McMahon

On Tuesday evening, the club for the first time fielded a 5th adult hurling team with 22 players togging out. The club decided earlier this year to enter a 5th team to cater for the ever increasing numbers available for adult hurling, due to former minor players becoming eligible each year, lads returning to play and new people moving to the village. The  great turnout for the Adult Junior Parish League this year, the ever popular Togging Out Group who hurl every Saturday morning and huge numbers turning out for the Junior Bs the last few years highlighted the need for a 5th team.

John Fahy, Brendan O' Callaghan and Gerry Liddane have gotten together to manage the team this year. Having only fully gotten together in the last month, management are really only starting to get to know the group and the team has been drawn in a very tough group and the first day out saw the Bridge 5th team take on Bodykes 2nd team.

Bodyke had a strong wind in the first half which dissapeared in the 2nd, but there were some good performances on the day and unfortunately a lot of near misses which if between the posts would have given a truer reflection of how the game went. Nevertheless well done to all who turned out, creating a bit of history.

Good on the day were Captain Brian Glynn at center back, Ed Skehan and Brian O' Loughlin in the full back line and Harry Chaplin at midfield.

The Junior Cs will take on Wolfe Tones in their next outing in Round 2.
