Our 14 Girls played Holycross today at home in Ballinree.
These teams have drawn their last 2 encounters so it was going to be an interesting one today!
Our team was Katie Hartnett in goals. Eva Bailey, Kate McGrath,  Molly O'Brien and Alicia Darcy were our back 4. Our midfielders were Holly Fitzpatrick, Caoimhe Manley, Anna Gleeson, Amy Keogh, and Elsa Fitzgerald.  Upfront today were Lily Murphy, Maeve Quinn and Amy-Louise O'Dwyer.
We started the first half against a stiff breeze so we had to work harder to keep the opposition out! The first half was very energetic with both teams giving it plenty and coming close on a number of occasions. However, it was nil - nil at half time.
We had a brilliant second period with loads of possession but scoring was becoming a problem for us! With about 15 to go we finally broke the deadlock through a fine Holly Fitzpatrick goal. To Holycross' credit, they never gave in and they scored with about 4 to go, 1-1.
It stayed this way despite numerous more chances that we just couldn't convert!
All our girls were super today!
Well done to Holycross on a great spirited match and thanks to our referee Rory Kennedy today also.
Up Ballymackey 💪
