The club's fifth team is continuing to provide an outlet for many of our older hurlers and also a lot of our emerging and younger hurlers. 25 players have togged over the course of the championship. The team only came together in the last couple of months and they finished their championship campaign on Sunday with an entertaining battle with neighbours Cratloe in Cratloe. The previous week they also played Wolfe Tones in Meelick.

Pre season for this team was the Parish League played earlier in the year in the Arena and many of the panel had been training regularly with the Toggin Out crew also. It is hoped that the establishment of this fifth team will continue to provide an outlet for players young and old who wish to continue to play at a level suitable to them. Led by Captain Brian Glynn and managed by John Fahy, the team are hoping to be in a more favorable championship group in 2025.

The Wolfe Tones game saw the Shannon men run out as comfortable winners on the day, they had a lot of youth on their side and were chasing qualification having lost out to Cratloe in Round 1. A spirited display by the Bridgemen nonetheless saw them battle to the end even though the result was never in doubt. Good performances on the day were seen from Ed Skehan, Brian O' Loughlin, Brian Glynn, Niall Liddane and Finn Murphy.  Errol Tuohy on frees and Finn Murphy contributed on the scoring front.

Sixmilebridge 1-7
Cratloe 3-7

Venue - Cratloe
Referee - Flan Reilly

The Cratloe game was the final group game of the championship and Cratloe were already sure of qualification to the knockout stages. The game was played in Cratloe on Sunday evening with a strong wind prevailing.

Playing most of the game with 14 men after an early hand injury to Brendan Murphy, the Bridgemen battled till the end. Podge Flannery stepped into goals for the day and whilst carrying a hamstring injury he still performed well making quite a few saves over the hour.

There were some lovely touches and individual pieces of skill from Brian Culbert who slotted over a wonderful point. Brian Glynn slotted over a monster free from the half back line and Culbert stepped up again to send a 21 yard free to the back of the net after Chaplin was taken down while bearing down on goal. Errol Tuohy was on target with frees whilst Finn Murphy and Niall Liddane also contributed scores. A good all round team performance, Niall Liddane, Richie Burke and Will Gilligan stood out and a good performance also from Oisin Casey playing his first match for Sixmilebridge.
