Junior B Hurling County Final

Commiserations to our Junior B players and management following a 3-9 to 0-15 loss to Cappawhite in the county final in Kilcommon on Saturday. It wasn’t to be our day but this team has done the club proud this year annexing both north league and north championship titles.

The club would like to thank everyone for their efforts in what has been a memorable year and hopefully we will be able to go one step further next year. Congratulations to the Cappawhite team and management on their victory.

Camogie Celebration

Silvermines Camogie Club is 30 years old this year and to commemorate the occasion by organising a night in Buddy’s Capparoe on Saturday 23rd of November.

The club went on to field their first adult team in 1999 and won both league and championships and are hoping to get all past players, managers, selectors, chairmen, secretaries and treasurers together for the night. Please spread the word in the coming weeks.

Under-21 Hurling

We overcame Roscrea by 3-12 to 2-12 in the North U-21 Hurling championship in Roscrea on Sunday. Silvermines were hit by two early goals in the opening seven minutes from the home side but fought back to within three with a 25th minute Conor McKelvey goal narrowing the deficit to three. However, three further unanswered points before the break from Ros’ saw them lead by six at the interval, 2-9 to 1-6. Silvermines impressed in the second half with Conor McKelvey, Danny Quinn, Sean Nolan all getting in the scoring stakes with Quinn and Nolan bagging second half goals also. With ten minutes remaining the sides were level, 3-9 to 2-12before a late brace from Danny Quinn coupled with a Sean Nolan effort ensured Silvermines recorded a hard-fought yet deserved victory.

Our next outing is against Nenagh Eire Og in Nenagh at 12 noon next Sunday.
