U21 D Championship Quarter Final
Sixmilebridge 3-12
Eire Og 3-13
Venue - Wolfe Tones
Referee - Pat Healy
Our second U21 team played Eire Og in the Quarter Final of their championship in Wolfe Tones last Sunday, with a very young team togging out, there was no less than Seven 17 year olds featuring on the day. Cillian Murphy had two green flags in the first half, one from an out field free which fortuitously made its way to the net and the second a close in free where Murphy went for goal executing brilliantly. Points from Peter Gilligan and Tom Forde and a brace from Dylan Keogh saw the team lead at half time by a goal on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-7.
Murphy added a futher 4 points in the second half to finish as the Bridge top scorer. Young Paddy Lynch in goals carried off some fine saves to keep the Bridge in the game and there were some notable performances from many of the Bridge men on the day, including Daniel Chaplin at center back as well as young Mark Mullins at full back and Cathal Ahern at wing back. Jack Hughes had a fantastic game also as did Cillian Murphy at full forward and Dylan Keogh who contributed 1-3 from play, a long range point after winning his own ball in a ruck being the standout score. Indeed in almost the last puck of the game, Keogh bore down on goals and hit an excellent shot for goal which just skimmed the post and wide, a few inches the other way and the Bridgemen would have been into the semi final.
Eire Og had a few experienced players on the day and thuis were able to see this game through. Best of luck to them in t the semi final.
