The U16s travelled to Peregrines for the U16 Hurling Champo C Shield Final on Saturday afternoon.

The match started at a frantic pace with neither team giving an inch from the first minute. Finians got the first score of the game with a nicely worked point moving the ball skillfully from defence to attack. It was nip and tuck throughout the first half until Peregrines scored a goal on the stroke of halftime, giving them a 3 point lead.

Finians took the upper hand in the second half closing the gap and taking a narrow lead midway through the half. To Peregrines credit they fought back and scored another goal to take a one point lead late into the second half. The referee signalled 3 minutes left on the clock however the lads didn't panic and they won a free in the last second of the game which was calmly stroked over the bar to take the game into extra time.

Both teams traded point for point in extra time and the intensity of the game continued providing great entertainment and excitement for the large crowd which came along to support both teams. Peregrines lead by a point as the lads made one last push to win the game in the dying seconds, agonisingly hitting the post with the last strike of the game. The final whistle blew and Peregrines were victorious on the day. Congratulations to Peregrines 👏

The coaches and supporters could not fault the lads for their effort and skill shown on the day. We are extremely proud of this team and to see their development throughout the years is a testament to their hard work and dedication. The future is bright as the lads head into minors next season.

A massive thank you to all the u15s who supported us throughout the year.💪

Thank you to the parents who have played their part throughout the years. 🙌
