Building for the future has been a key theme of 2024 for us in Moorefield GAA and while a large focus has been on the building works taking place we have also been concentrating on the development of our players.

We are now delighted to announce Mark Fitzharris as our Participation Offficer, a role many of you will know under the former title of GPO.

We've asked Mark to explain a little more about what the role entails.

My title is Participation Officer - Kildare GAA | East Leinster Project.

As the Participation Officer for Kildare GAA, I am dedicated to promoting and developing Gaelic Games throughout the county. In my role, I work within the East Leinster Project to create accessible and sustainable pathways for players, coaches, and clubs at all levels.

My mission is to build stronger clubs, better players, and a thriving Gaelic Games community across Kildare. I collaborate closely with primary schools, local clubs, and community partners to foster a love of Gaelic football and hurling from a young age, while also supporting the continued growth and education of players and coaches.

In the role, my key areas of focus include:

Primary Schools: Delivering development programs to introduce children to Gaelic games and lay a foundation for future participation.

Club Nursery Development: Supporting clubs in building and growing nursery programs that engage young players and develop their skills.

Reporting & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to GAA standards and tracking the success and progress of our various programs.

Coach Education: Offering training, resources, and support to coaches to enhance their ability to develop young players.

Club Engagement: Strengthening ties between Moorefield, the players, and the local community to create a collaborative and positive environment.

Camps: Organizing and delivering sports camps that provide fun, development-focused environments for young players to learn and grow.

Supporting Kildare Sports Partnership: Partnering with the Kildare Sports Partnership to increase opportunities and access to sport for all.

I will represent Moorefield and Sallins as part of the Dual Club Model, working to balance and enhance both football and hurling within these clubs.
