Our juniors played the second game of the championship against Arravale Rovers on Wednesday August 29th. They continued their fine form and chalked up another good win. Team. On Sunday last we went to Ballylooby to take on Brian Borus. Always a difficult away game and last Sunday was no different. Our girls started very well and were unlucky not to have two good goal chances and a penalty converted. Brian Borus made the most of their chances and led at the break by 1-4 to 0-3. Moyle Rovers scores came from Eimer Ryan frees and a good point from play by Betty Barlow. Our girls were working hard all over the field but Brian Borus had a very stubborn defence. We made the break through ten minutes from time when a well struck Eimer Ryan free went to net. Our girls hurled with renewed vigour and were rewarded with a very well taken goal from Aine Fitzgerald. The gap was down to two points and despite our best efforts that where it stayed. Final score Brian Borus 2-7 Moyle Rovers 2-5. Team. Makayla O’Donnell, Eve Ryan, Emma Cronin, Sarah O’Connor, Sophie Delaney, Sarah Everard, Kate Barlow, Betty Barlow(0-1), Anna Carey, Barbara Ryan, Aine Fitzgearld (1-0), Catriona Phelan, Emer Ryan (1-4,4f),Orlaith Ryan, Alana Dowling .Subs Louise Norris, Ellen Buckley, Michelle Cronin. The under 14s Played Arravale Rovers in their first round championship winning well with a 4 6 to 0-1) victory. Great play throughout the field by all our players. In the second round we travelled to Moneygall and in a very tight game we lost by a single point, Moyle Rovers 2-9 and Moneygall 5-1. Moneygall just snatched it at the death with a goal. Again great displays from all our girls. The club has the honour of having two players on the county under 14 Panel. Well done to Grainne O’ Donnell and Hazel Brennan. Grainne has the added honour of been elected county captain.
