Update 01/04/2021

Éire Óg have won a €1000 voucher for Azzurri Sports based on the high number of participants in our group, what a great prize-thanks again to all that signed up and made this possible, ye are super....!!

Unfortunately, Elaine Gannon, our nominated Healthy Club Walking Hero did not get drawn for the cash prizes, but it doesn't take from the massive efforts she made for the challenge. The GAA are awarding another prize to all nominees to thank them for their efforts. We will have more news on that next week. Congrats to the winners shown below.

Update 08/02/2021

There's just over 3 weeks left of the 7 week healthy clubs steps challenge and we are happy to report that not only have we smashed the 4ooo Km target, our current combined total of over 29,000 Km sees us hold second place in Munster out of a total of 137 clubs. The initiative has been a great success with over 200 members, friends and neighbours signed up to clock their steps for Éire Óg and great fun is being had with several friendly rivalries happening at all levels on the table. Most of all it is fantastic to see people get out and about in the fresh air and building up their walking levels. If you need a bit of motivation to get you moving and haven't yet signed up for the challenge you can still do so by downloading the My Life app by Irish Life and registering for Éire Óg in the Munster GAA challenge. The challenge continues till March 3rd, remember to adhere to current Covid19 guidelines and keep safe and well.

31/12/2020

A very Happy New Year to all our members, hopefully we will be able to get back to our normal lives somewhat in the early stages of 2021. With level 5 social restrictions in place and club training and activities postponed for now, it's more important than ever to keep ourselves motivated and active.

We have added the club to the Irish Life/GAA Every Step Counts Challenge and encourage all members to take part. This challenge runs from 13 Jan 2021 to 3 March 2021-with the goal for clubs to collectively walk 4000km's. The steps are tracked through the My Life (Irish Life) app, which is free to download and use-(the My Life app can also be linked to Fitbits etc-it will then synch your steps to the app). While users of the Irish Life app must be aged 18 and over, we would really love to see all the family getting involved and start the New Year off on the right track.

Please keep up to date with current Government Covid-19 regulations while undertaking activities. Currently the guideline is to take exercise within 5km of your own home and also that people may meet with one other household for outdoor exercise. Remember also physical distancing, respiratory etiquette & guidelines on restricted movements/self-isolation if symptomatic, or awaiting Covid test or results.

Keep up to date here: gov.ie - Level 5 (www.gov.ie) and here: Coronavirus - HSE.ie
