Under 13 girls update
After a camogie weekend, attention switched to the big ball. Both teams picked up wins in their opening championship matches so hopes were high to continue the title charges. πͺπͺ
Unfortunately, the division 8 girls game was called off at late notice. Their opponents, Craobh Chiarain's, were unable to secure a referree, so the game couldn't go ahead.
Focus was on the division 1 girls who made the trip across the m50 to take on Ballinteer St John's in Marley Park.
BSJ had won division 2 at a cantor so were keen to test their mettle against their illustrious opponents.
In monsoon conditions, BSJ started fast and struck two goals inside the first 5 mins. Finians settled into the game and kept the scoreboard ticking over with some well taken points. An end to end first half ended with Finians holding a slender 4 point lead.
In the second half, Finians had the advantage of the strong breeze so put BSJ under extreme pressure, particularly at their restarts. A flurry of goals followed for Finians. The girls kept their opponents at bay and finished up comfortable winners. π
Two wins from two means that with the other results in the group, Finians have secured a home semi final already, with one game left in the group. π€π€
