The club AGM will be held on Thursday 20th April 2023.
A proposal has been made to change Article 6d in the club consititution to reduce the number of members who have to be present at an AGM for a change in the constitution from two-thirds to one-third. A copy of the club constitution can be accessed here (opens in new window).
The rationale for the measure is that, as the club has grown, so too has the membership. In practice, it is very difficult/impossible to get two-thirds or more of the membership to attend the AGM, which means that it is very difficult/impossible to make any change to the constitution. The risk is that the constitution becomes out of date and unsuitable for a club of our size. The planned reduction to no less than one-third of the membership would still safeguard the constitution, and make sure that it is only changes with the support of a large portion of the membership.
Members can either vote by WhatsApp via teams groups, at the AGM, or messaging their proxy vote directly to Ronnie O'Toole (Exec Committee member) on 0874174667 by midday Wednesday 19th April 2023.
The Executive Committee of the club is urging members to vote "Yes".
