Under 14 LGFA Update
On a balmy Saturday, FInians welcomed Sylvesters to Ridgewood for their Division 8 match. Despite being the middle of June, this match was no dead rubber. With both teams at the wrong end of the table, the game was a real 6 pointer!
Finians settled first with a nice score, but Sylvesters came back and took the lead. The lead then changed a few times before the first water break. Finians emerged from the liquid refreshments with new impetus and built a lead that they retained to the half time break.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Finians adding a few scores. However Sylvesters were well in the game and a couple of crucial saves kept the lead. In the final quarter, the Finians girls continued to push and held on to record a crucial victory.
There was a great outpouring of relief at the final whistle as the girls celebrated the victory. With the win, the girls should have done enough to secure their status for Championship.
All credit to the girls though, who have been as enthusiastic and committed as ever despite some challenging results this season
