Curraha played host to Moynalvey on Bank Holiday Monday in the opening Round of the PMC Physiotherapy Football league Division 9 round 1 game in Joe McDermott Park (Curraha).

The game got underway at 4pm with a sizable crowd in attendance. Curraha got off the mark first with a fine point from Ruairí O ‘Sullivan. This was quickly followed by a brilliant long range point from Eric O ‘Donoghue. Moynalvey hit back with a fine point of their own coming from their number 14 with little over 10 minutes played. David Coyle pushed Curraha's lead back to 2 with a fine point off his right foot from play. Moynalvey’s William Harnan responded immediately with a point. Ruairí O O'Sullivan got his second point of the game which came from a free on the stroke of 20 minutes. Curraha were forced to make an early change when Brian Joyce was forced off through injury and Eoin Burke was introduced. Ruairí O’Sullivan registered Curraha's 5th point of the half from a free. Gavin Coyle got his name on the score sheet in the 30th minute as the score read at halftime

Curraha 0:06 Moynalvey 0.02

The Second half began with Curraha introducing Conor McAleese for Eric O'Donoghue and Mark Phelan for Gavin Coyle and Ben Heagney for Ian Battersby. Moynalvey got the first 2 scores of the second half coming from their numbers 14 and 15 respectively. Matthew Brennan, the Curraha goalie was called into action and produced a fine save. Moynalvey put together their best move of the match and resulted in a goal which was scored by William Harnan. Unfortunately for Curraha this was the turning point of the match and moments later William Harnan had the ball in the back of the net again. Curraha then re-introduced Gavin Coyle for Tadgh O'Sullivan with 15 minutes remaining. Moynalvey then went on a scoring spree and kicked the next 8 points without reply all coming from different players apart from 2 coming from their number 13. Curraha were awarded a penalty in the dying stages and Seán Ronan slotted the ball to the back of the net past the Moynalvey goalie to leave the final score.

Curraha 1.06 Moynalvey 2.12 A disappointing result for the home team but lots of positives to take as well with the 3rd quarter costing them the most and was probably the winning and losing of the game. Up next is a trip to Sean Newman Park on Sunday the 31st of March at 10:30 am for a meeting with St. Ultans.
