Aaron Farrelly with a point and a goal flicked / palmed to the net by Rory O Connor after a fine across the goalmouth pass put Simonstown 1—1 to 0—1 up after seven minutes of this A League Div 5 game in Simonstown on Tuesday evening. Ruairi Brady tapped over for the Navan men while Senchalstown replied with a somewhat fortunate goal and a point in quick succession to leave teams level at at 1—2 each with ten minutes played. Aaron Farrelly put the hosts ahead with a free but Senchalstown replied with two points (1f) to lead 1—4 to 1--3 as we entered the second quarter. Farrelly split the posts from play and in a goalmouth scramble he lashed ball to the net to put Simonstown 2—4 to 1—5 ahead with five to play in first half. The Yellow Furze men added two points while Farrelly completed the first half scoring for the Sky Blues to leave Simonstown leading at the break 2—5 to talents 1—7.
Niall Kane returning after two years replaced Aaron Farrelly at half time. What a wonderfull sight it was to see him taking part in a game showing he has retained all his talents.
Defences were on top early in second half but Senchalstown notched two points while Ruairi Brady added a free for Simons to leave the teams level after ten minutes 2—6 to 1—9. Rory O Connor with a free made 2—7 to 1—9. The vital score of the half arrived with a well worked Yellow Furze goal at end of third quarter to put Senchalstown 2—9 to 2—7 in front. That score gave Senchalstown the impetus, they pushed on and added four more points from play. Peter Duffy landed a point from distance and Brady with a free completed the Simonstown scoring tally. Final Score; Simons 2—9 Senchstwn 2—13.
