Our Senior Ladies team continued their winning streak with a resounding victory against Ballindaggin this afternoon. Following a hard-fought win last week, the Rovers carried their momentum into this match, dominating from the first whistle.
Niamh O'Brien opened the scoring just two minutes in, finishing off a through ball from Sinead Keogh. Five minutes later, the duo combined again, with Molly Sweeney setting up O'Brien for her second goal.
The Rovers showed no signs of slowing down, and Molly Sweeney soon got on the scoresheet herself, tapping in a rebound after the Ballindaggin keeper parried Aoife Caffrey's shot. Niamh O'Brien then completed her hat-trick, thanks to a well-placed through ball from Aisling McDonald to Molly Sweeney, who was fouled in the box.
Although the resulting penalty was saved, Rovers captain Sinead Keogh reacted quickest to slot home the rebound.
Molly Sweeney added her second goal just before halftime, bringing the score to a commanding 6-0. The second half started in similar fashion, with Sweeney assisting O'Brien for her fourth goal of the day. Sinead Keogh then capped off a dominant performance with a powerful header from a corner.
The match ended 10 minutes early due to a head injury to one of the Ballindaggin players. We wish her a speedy recovery.
Final Score: Ballindaggin 0-8 Wicklow Rovers
It was a fantastic all-around performance from the Senior Ladies, with notable contributions from:
* Niamh O'Brien: 4 goals
* Molly Sweeney: 2 goals & 5 assists
* Sinead Keogh: 2 goals & 1 assist
