Yes, any club or association running a fundraising lotto in Ireland needs to make sure they comply with the law. For larger draws, you’ll need a district court lottery licence, which is issued under the Gaming & Lotteries Act. This licence must be applied for well in advance of your first ticket sale and renewed each year. 

For smaller draws, a lotto permit from An Garda Síochána may be enough. This allows clubs to run a lottery with a maximum prize of €5,000 and is a good option if your club is just getting started. The permit application is submitted to your local Garda station for review and approval.

Getting started is straightforward. First, secure the correct lottery licence for your draw. Then submit your draw details through ClubZap, including the day, time and number range. If your club is moving from another system, you can easily import existing players so nobody loses their place. Once set up, your club can start selling tickets and managing draws all from one central platform. 

Updating your club lotto results in ClubZap is simple and gives you full control over what’s shared with members. Admins can use the portal’s “Update Results” section to enter the winning numbers, jackpot amount and winner details for any draw date. 

The system will automatically increment the jackpot when you publish results, but if the jackpot was won and you need to add a rollover amount, you can do this manually. Just log in to your ClubZap admin portal, go to the Lotto section from the menu, and click on “Update Results” for the draw you want to adjust. Enter the current jackpot amount, save the update, and you’re done. 

You can also control when members see the results. If you’re not ready to publish, simply avoid ticking the “Publish Results” box and don’t post to social media yet.

This allows you to manage communications carefully while keeping members informed in a timely and accurate way. Plus, push notifications can be enabled to alert members instantly when results are officially published. 

Yes, you can update the jackpot manually if needed. Simply go to the relevant draw in the admin portal, enter the new jackpot amount and save your changes. Just make sure not to tick “Publish Results” until you are ready for members to see the updated value. This gives clubs full control over managing draws and prize amounts.

Yes, if you have people who pay you yearly via cash or cheque they can be imported into the ClubZap system so the will coreside with people who paid online. This will mean you only have one place to check for winners and all those in the draw will be notified via email when results are published.
