U14 Division 2 Hurling Championship

 Aghada 3-8 Whitechurch 3-11

Report by Pa O’ Connor

We played Whitechurch up in Whitechurch last Friday evening (28th June) in our last game of the group already knowing that we had qualified for the final. On the evening we battled hard but we didn’t match our opponents in aggression and application as they needed to beat us. We got off to a good start and got some nice scores through David and Dara. As the first half progressed Whitechurch got more on top and we missed some handy chances. Their centre forward didn’t miss a free. Half time score Aghada 2-2 Whitechurch 1-10.

In the second half we really went at them playing strong for 10mins and we had gone in front by a point. They were awarded a free on the 21metre line  with 10 mins to go, it was converted to back of our net. We tried hard to get a equalising score and despite a great run from Cormac which ended up with him striking the sliotar off their crossbar, time ran out losing by a goal. We have plenty to work on going into the final.Best for Aghada Cormac,Dara,Lorcan,Finbar, Bobby and David.

Aghada team Leon O’ Connor, Dylan Kearns, Donacha Walsh, Bobby O’ Riordan, Eoin Kirrane, Cormac Cashman, Finbar Alcock, Jack Kelleher, Lorcan Evans, Marcus O’ Loughlin,Dara O’ Brien, Rían O’ Brien Jake O’ Sullivan, David Murphy, Cathal Lowney. subs all used Ben Duggan, Colin Crowley, Tim O’Hanlon.
