Rebel Óg East U14 Division 2 Hurling Championship Final 28/7/24

 Whitechurch 7-10 Aghada 6-9
Report by Pa O' Connor

After an unbelievable hour plus of incredible intensive and cracking hurling we came out on the wrong side of the scoreline but what an effort by all of our boys. From the start this game was played at a fast pace in great conditions, we got off to the best possible start with Cathal Lowney getting a goal. Scores came constantly and before we knew it half time whistle sounded and score read Whitechurch lead us 4-5 to 4-4, with the goals coming from David Murphy, Jack Kelleher & Rían O’ Brien. Second half was played at exact same pace as first half, cracking hurling scores and goals being converted. Into last 15 minutes we lead by a point but Whitechurch finished that bit stronger than us getting a few more scores. Our lads effort and commitment was incredible and showed in the last few minutes as we went in search of a goal that might turn result in our favour unfortunately for Aghada it wasn’t to be. In the end Whitechurch came out on top but we will learn, regroup and hopefully we will turn this defeat into positivity over the next few years. All the boys on the day put in a huge shift and gave of their all.

Killavullen 8-10 Aghada 6-12.  28/7/24
Report by Pa O' Connor

A hugely enjoyable game played in beautiful sunny conditions. This game was played at a great pace and fantastic hurling served up by both sides. At half time we were down 5-4 to 2-3 but in the 2nd half we really went for the result ultimately coming up short but not for the lack of  effort and huge commitment from our lads. I’d like to thank the u12s for coming and allowing us to get this fixture played. All boys put in a big shift on the day. Aghada team: James O’ Brien, Luca Hurley, Seánie Walsh, Adam O’ Loughlin, Cormac Byrne, Mason Sheehan, Ronan Callanan, Dara Kelleher, Tim O’ Hanlon, Bobby Creedon, Mikey Creedon, Cathal Lehane, Rory Casey sub used Marcus O’ Loughlin.
