We are delighted to inform you that the Westport Astroturf 5 a Side Competition is planned from Thursday 24th October to Sunday 27th October and entries are now open.
The tournament is confined to 16 teams and the format will be drawn into four groups of four teams. Upon completion of the group stages, the first placed teams will go into the cup, the second placed teams will go into the shield, the third place teams goes into the bowl and the fourth place teams will go into the shield, so all teams are guaranteed at least four games (group matches plus a semi final).
The group stages will be played out on Thursday and Friday evening and on Saturday and the semi finals will be played on the Sunday morning and the finals played off on the Sunday.
Each team must have eight players (five players and three subs) on their panel and all players must be 16 years or over at the start date of the tournament (players born on 24th October 2008 or before) and each team are only allowed a maximum of four Junior players registered with the Mayo League or equivalent.
The entry fee for the tournament is €250 and all the money will be put back as prize money for the four competitions.
