Westport United FC Welcomes Portwest as Sponsor of Youth Academy and Football for All Programme
Westport United Football Club is thrilled to announce a new multi-year partnership with Portwest, the globally recognised workwear and safety brand headquartered here in County Mayo. As the official sponsor of our Youth Academy and Football for All programme, Portwest is helping us provide invaluable resources and opportunities for over 200 young players in our Youth Academy, as well as supporting children and young adults with disabilities in our Football for All sessions every Sunday. This partnership is a vital step forward in our mission to create an inclusive and supportive environment for young athletes in the community.
Portwest’s logo will feature on all Youth Academy kits, symbolising the strength of this collaboration and a shared commitment to fostering community, youth development, and inclusivity through sport. Portwest will also host two key tournaments in 2025: the Youth Academy Blitz and the Portwest Cup for girls, events that bring young athletes, families, and supporters together in celebration of local football talent.
Richard Grady, Chairman of Westport United FC, spoke on the significance of this partnership: “At Westport United, we believe in the power of football to unite, inspire, and make a difference in young lives. Our Youth Academy and Football for All programme are at the heart of this vision, providing a safe and encouraging space for children of all abilities. Portwest’s support will allow us to expand these programs, reaching even more young players in our community. We are excited to work with a global company that shares our dedication to community development and inclusivity. Together, we can make football accessible and enjoyable for all children, helping them grow both as players and as people.”
Cathal J Hughes, Director of Portwest, added: “As a Westport-based company, Portwest takes great pride in giving back to our local community. We’re delighted to partner with Westport United in supporting both the Youth Academy and Football for All programme, as these initiatives also reflect some of our values of inclusivity, community engagement, and personal growth. We look forward to seeing the impact this partnership will have on young people in the town, as they build friendships, confidence, and resilience through football.”
With this collaboration, Westport United is reaffirming its commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive football community where all young people can develop their skills, build lasting friendships, and enjoy the game to its fullest.
