Miltown 0-13 Doonbeg 2-11
Our Junior side finished of the group stage of the Junior B Premier Championship with a four point defeat to Doonbeg in Kilrush on Saturday evening. With both teams having already qualified for the ¼ final stages it was a largely youthful Miltown side that took to the pitch. Sean Malone opened the scoring for Miltown after 10 minutes of the first half and it was a tight enough first half with both side trading scores, a Doonbeg goal after 10 minutes gave them a one point lead at half time as points from Sean Malone, Ger Malone(2) Dominic Griffin (2) Diarmaid O’Sullivan & Patrick Greene kept Miltown well in the hunt. Half time score Miltown 0-7 Doonbeg 1-5.
The second half saw the sides continuing to trade points but unfortunately a second Doonbeg goal after 18 minutes proved to be the decisive score establishing a lead that Miltown despite sterling efforts were unable to reel in. Miltown scores in the second half came from Patrick Greene, Sean Malone (3), Cillian Keavey & Conall Meade. Attention will now be on the draw for the ¼ Final in the next few weeks with games scheduled for the end of September
