Miltown 1-5 Eire Og 0-9
Our Junior B side bowed out of this years Junior B Premier Championship on Sunday evening with an agonizing one-point defeat to Eire Og in Inagh.
Eire Og had the better of the exchanges in the first half putting pressure on a resolute Miltown defense and keeping the scoreboard ticking along. Miltown though creating chances themselves found scores a little harder to come by and as the half time whistle blew Eire Og held a four-point lead on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-2, Miltowns scores coming from Gary Egan & Conor McKenna.
Miltown improved their performance in the second half and despite Eire Og extending their lead to six points at one stage our lads refused to lay down. A Conor McKenna goal after a bulldozing run from Gary Egan brought Miltown back into the game. Eire Og were doing just enough to stay ahead as Miltown increased the pressure towards the end of the game. Points from Gary Egan, Eugene Byrne & Noel McGuane left the minimum between the sides, but Eire Og with the help of a post repelled the final Miltown attacks and emerged winners on a scoreline of 0-9 to 1-5.
